The name Birgit is from the designers grandmother who was an entrepeneur and seamstress.
She was a business woman ahead of her time, running a boutique and studio in Haugesund from 1946 – 66 of fashion and textile equipment retail.
Through this Birgit did an unconventional choice despite of the circumstances of her time when a women should know her place as a loving mother and a housewife.
To add her name is honoring her and all the previous generations of women who followed their dream.
